I'm looking for a new IWB holster for my 3913. Not that many offered, but I've found one that I'd like to try that is listed for a 6906. I was curious if anyone on the forum that might own both of these fine pistols would have an idea how well a "6906" holster might do for the 3913.

All of the 3d gen holsters seem to fit all 3d gens if the holster is made for a long enough barrel length and the trigger guard (round/square) fits. The 9's will be just a wee bit loose in a .40 or .45 holster, but no problem if IWB. I carry a 908, 6906 or 457 in a 457 holster.

To answer your question, I don't remember off hand if the 3913 and 6906 have the same barrel length, but there's not much difference so the answer is yes.

Thanks guys!!!

I've got a couple of holsters that do triple duty for my full-sized 3rd generation pistols (3906, 5905, 4006) but I sure appreciate your advice on these compact versions.

I have a FIST holster that I use for my 3913TSW. It fits well. I also have a Safety Speed that is marked for the 6906, but in which my 3913 fits. As WoodLark says, just about any holster that fits a 6906 should fit a 3913 as well.

MTR also makes a holster for the 3913. I have one of their "Dual Carry" holsters for my 3" K Frame revolvers and I like it quite a bit.

You might also check Lobo Leather. I've never owned one, but they have good reviews here.

Thanks guys!!!

The 6906 and 3913 are the same size, with the main difference for holsters being the stepped-side of the 6906 frame, making it slightly wider at that point. A leather holster will stretch a bit to accommodate for this part, but not a kydex holster.

A 6906 kydex holster will fit the 3913 but stick out a little more than necessary, while a 3913 kydex holster would probably not be good for the 6906. I do like the leather back/kydex shelled IWB holsters, like the ones from Old Faithful Holsters (who also offer them as discounted kits that you assemble on eBay).

I recently tried out Alien Gear's IWB holster, and was not very impressed with it. There are compromises made because of the universal nature of their design, and I think they churn out so many holsters that quality also suffers. Mine had poor cant and some misaligned holes, and I also ordered it for a 3913 but received a shell for a 4" 4006TSW. I won't be ordering from them again.

I have a Don Hume H715M which I use for 3913NL, 3914LS and 4040PD, all fit the same. Can't say how the 69XX would fit, but suspect it would be good. Good fit, excellent quality, looking at similar for my P245.

Just received my holster and it fits just fine!!!

Thanks everyone for the advice! I've learned that this forum is the best and fastest place to get good recommendations; from the people who know!

Typically, I would direct folks here when the need includes extremely attractive in addition to well made, comfortable, affordable, high quality materials and supporting a small business wholly run by fantastic gun folks.

I suppose the gorgeous looks aren't so important when choosing an inside waist band holster. :) In any case, most (all?) of their offerings also include the 6906 and other 3rd Gen shapes and fitment, so please consider these as a genuine sleeper in the business.

He's not fooling about it being a husband and wife team and I'm not fooling about them being fantastic "gun people." I've shot with both of them on a couple of occasions and last time out... the wife beat all four of us guys in the group. :p:o

Just as a bit of a heads up. Most here (including me) have reported that leather holsters for the SIG P239 work for the 9MM 3rd gens.

^This is quality info! I don't see me going that route as I tend to holster Tupperware only... but really good info to share to friends who are discovering the 3rd Gens.

.

Because of the 6906s stepped slide and the location of the slide release ....... I've found that high end 3913 holsters (think Milt Sparks) will not take a 6906 without stretching the leather..... and 6906 holsters are a bit loose with 3923/14s.

They will work in a pinch or if faced with TEOTWAWKI...... but I have separate holsters for 69xx series and 39xx series guns....... some Sparks date to the early/mid 90s and are still GTG. I would guess that a couple of these holsters have seen +3000 days of use over the past 26 years.

That said something like the Bianchi Pistol Pocket w/ thumb break is good to go with both series guns.

I would agree, it does stretch the leather to use the same holster for both guns, and I wouldn't mix them on something nice like a Milt Sparks either!

But I have found that my beat-up DeSantis Mini-Slide will work decently for both, as well as an all-leather IWB that I made myself based on a 3914. The big problem with the 6906 is how butt-heavy it is, the holster has to have good retention on the barrel/trigger guard area to keep it in place.
