3913 Questions

I love my 3913 and carry it in the winter. I removed the magazine disconnect and the right safety/decocker lever which made it perfect for IWB carry. I've put around 1000 rounds through it without any failures whatsoever.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments and replies. I was out of town this weekend and went to a gun store that had a Sig 239 in stock so I tried it on for size. This was the first time I handled a DA/SA" Unfortunately with my size hands I found that I had to shift my hand position to reach the trigger on 1st shot DA mode. My qustion is Does the 3913 have shorter reach than the 239? I have not found any locally here to try out. My local gun dealer told me that at $430 the price is above book, but the gun retailed at around $600 in its day and as some member noted Smith priced itself out of the market. He said that if he got a gun in on trade he probably couldn't go much higher than 325 selling price in our local market in CT. Thanks again
Tom

Picked up a nice 3953 DAO on GB a couple of months ago for $400.00. Rather than get a 3913 for a companion to my 6906, I wanted to try a DAO. Both are great shooters.

I really disagree with this statement in that it depends on how you describe "the market"

If "the market" is defined as cheaper polymer frames guns- maybe so. But Beretta and Sig are selling lots of $700 metal guns, and Kimber is selling every 1911 they can make, and folks are going crazy trying to track down Kimber Solo's at $700 or so.

Real soon Beretta and Browning are going to wake up and make carry sized versions of the 92FS and Hi-Power. Actually Beretta has made some compact sized 92's in the past and they are highly sought after.

Smith & Wesson needs to wake up and make annual runs of the 3913/4013, 6906, and 5903/4003 (as well as the 45's)

I think it had a lot more to do with some marketing guys being afraid it would make it harder to sell their own polymer guns so they went "all-in" on those.
