I picked up a 3913 a few weeks ago. LOVE this gun, I just need to get a bit more used to shooting it (I'm more accustomed to thicker grips, so my accuracy is a bit off).

As I understand it, the serial number on the 3913 is beneath the model number on the left-hand side of the frame, below the slide release. On mine, it's "TDS9XXX" (what can anyone tell me about this SN?) However, I also have three matching numbers on the right-hand side of the frame ... on the barrel, the slide, and the frame. This number is B0XXX. Which is the SN, and what is the other number? Thanks, in advance, for your help!

The TDS number is the serial number. Someone will likely come along and give you a year of production.

The B0 number might be an assembly number, but I'm not sure.

They are nice guns, but then again all of the 39xx guns are.

Oooops, I just realized that the rest of my post was in the wrong thread. How embarasking, as Popeye would say.

As Gary has written, the "TDS9xxx" number is the serial number of record. Without seeing a pic, I can make an educated guess as to the significance of the "B0xxx" number: a year or so ago, the California Department of Corrections dumped a bunch of Smiths, including 3913s, on the used market. They were marked with inventory numbers such as you've described. The 3913s I've seen from this source were generally in pretty good condition- Nice find!

Thanks Steve! My 3913 must have been one of those CDoC firearms because it's marked B03xx on the slide, frame, and barrel. The guy I bought it from told me it might be one of those, at least that's what he was told he bought it.

Mine came with two magazines, but no box. It looks like it spent most of it's life in a safe somewhere.

My serial number is TDT11xx.

I've heard that they also surplused some 6906s in similar condition.

As per the 5th. Edition of the SCSW, the TDS prefix dates to 2000…
But more definitive information can be gotten with either following the link provided by ACEd or getting the pistol lettered by the Historical Foundation https://swhistoricalfoundation.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/SWHF-Letter-of-Authenticity-Form.pdf
