3rd Generation .357 Sig

I'm still trying to figure out what we needed the .357Sig for.
I've often wondered why S&W didn't do anything with the 357Sig in a third gen pistol. I've never been able to find an extra barrel, or find out if there would be any issues with a 4006 and a 357Sig barrel. I wouldn't think so, but I'm still curious.
My first Glock was a M37 .45Gap, solely for the reason I wanted a Glock chambered in the namesake round. The same reason I'd like to have a Sig in 357Sig. They're just making me collect more stuff!!

As I understand it, numerous law enforcement types who were transitioned to autos lamented the loss of the .357 125 gr and its almost mythical abilities. The .357 sig was the resurrection of that cartridge in a semi-auto form.
Law enforcement agencies can be fickle in their buying decisions and I don't know whether the Secret Service and other agencies caused the .357 sig, or they adopted it after SIG came up with the idea. I also don't know how much rivalry and competition issues made some federal agencies demand something else when the FBI and others went to the .40.
As I recall, the .357 Sig offers something like an extra 150-200 fps over a 9mm +p. I could be wrong...I don't pay that much attention to this cartridge.
I sort of figure if a 9mm +p isn't enough, going to a 40 S&W or a .45 is the next step, bypassing the .357 sig. But that's just me.
On the other hand, if Jarvis or Bar sto offered a drop in or semi drop in .357 sig barrel for a 40xx S&W I would buy one.
It seems unlikely that there would be enough demand to make a barrel for a relatively oddball caliber for a virtually discontinued gun, though.

Don't get me wrong, I am very fond of all my 20+ 3rd generation pistols, but I see no reason to go in search of a launching platform for the .357 Sig other than the original.

This post makes no sense whatsoever. What does the size of your, mine or any other 3rd Generation Smith collection have with the proliferation of the .357SiG round?
To follow your line of thinking, why have the .357SiG at all, other than the fact it shoots flatter, faster and more accurately than .40S&W in any platform?
The more opportunities there are for this round the better, IMHO...
I agree-the more platforms for a given round-the better and more competive the market forces for the shooter.
I wonder how much it has stimulated sales for 10mm since Dan Wesson has offered their 1911s in 10mm?
But then again, I don't expect to see the M&P offered in 45GAP. That would just be an Obamanation!

Hell, if S&W, Bar-Sto or any other good barrel maker would offer a 357SIG barrel for the S&W 1006 or 1076 I'd buy a few of each!
I was lucky enough to get a Bar-Sto Match Grade 9X25Dillon conversion barrel for my S&W 1006 and I absolutely love it. Talk about fun!

Could it be because they don't make 3rd gens anymore unless it's a huge LE special run?
The M&P full size and compact are so chambered and they are superior guns.

I guess S&W doesn't think it would sell enough to make it worth while.

I use a Sig 229 and Glock 32 in 357 Sig for duty and like both. I would like to see the S&W Performance Center make a Shorty 357.
