Besides the red dot, what is the difference in me getting a red dot and 3x magnifier vs. getting a 3x scope? I'll just be doing some range shooting.

Is the 3x magnifier pretty much just a scope in front of a red dot? Looking at the PA M3. Thanks all.

The magnifier mount usually flips out of the way so you can use the red dot when the magnifier is not needed.

The magnifier dosent need all the stuff a scope has like crosshairs and windage-elevation adjustments. So they should cost less and be more compact.

Imho if you want/need a red dot type sight for close range use then go with the red dot/magnifier combo.

If you are only going to be shooting at distant targets 50+yards that dont move then I would go for a scope.

My thing is that the magnifier doesnt just magnify what your shooting at but it magnifies the red dot also. So with just a little bit of distance your dot is completely covering your target and you cant discriminate down to the gnats backside. that is why I run a 4-16 scope, but I am shooting further distances than you are.
