Saw a 34-1 at a LGS and don't know why but "had to have it. It appeared to be in pretty good shape so what the heck.. plopped my $$ down and took it to its new home. Exterior is ?95-98%? in my humble opinion..It has target grips numbered to it that only have a small ding like something about 1/4" hit it lightly, once..When I was cleaning it I discovered "flame cutting" above the cylinder gap??? This on a 22lr steel framed revolver, is this normal considering its over all condition???? Thanks Bill

What looks like flame cutting maybe lead and accumulated crud that can be scraped off with a soft metal tool, like brass etc. Steel with mark the finish. If it is flame cutting, and that's a stretch with a 22, don't worry about it. Flame cutting only goes so far and stops, even with magnums.

That's a handy little Smith you have. My 34-1 is packed up for a 3 day Turkey hunt trip in the SW Va mountains, starting early tomorrow.

Found one that was loved at lgs...cylinder tight...no peening...$375 seemed fair to me for such a handy little 4" j frame...34-1 to be exact...
