Buying the SW40VE in the next week or so, and was wondering what you guys are running through yours? I need target rounds and home protection rounds. Once I get more money I will be reloading my own.

I run Federal hydra-shocks for self defense.
Blazer and Winchester 'white box' for range and target.
I've run other brands that were more and less expensive, but can't remember all of them. My 40ve ran all of them without a single failure.
YMMV

my local gun stoore had a good sale on Winchester Ranger Jacketed Hollow 155gr so i got a bunch of those and use it for everything but in a pinch wwb from walmart

Carry- Winchester PDX1 180 JHP
Range- Blazer 165 FMJ
Good deal- Wal Mart has Remington UMC 180 JHP 100/$34.97

Thanks guys seems I got a good selection to choose from, how bout any ammo to avoid at all costs?

If you find any commercial ammo made in the US that chokes the Sigma/SD, I'd like to know what it is. I've never found any.

.40 S&W ammo

I avoid the steel-cased stuff like the cheap Herter's and Wolf. Steel-cased stuff is reserved for my guns with chrome-lined chambers/barrels. As a rule, they can take it because they are designed to. Walmart has good deals on .40 in my area. Cabela's has been selling Winchester 180gr bonded ammo. 50rd plain white box w/black lettering for about 24 bucks a box. I have some of their 180gr PDX1 stuff. Same bullets from what I can see. The cases are brass instead of nickel-plated but, yeah, I bought some. ;)

+1, my SW40VE has eaten over 1K rds so far, all different types, with zero failures. Buy whatever ya want, it's all good!

Learn to cast your own and you will never run out of bullets. I cast SWC’s from a six cavity Lee mold. I tumble lube them and don’t push them to the max. Wonderful.

I use Winchester PXD1 180g JHP for carry
I buy relaods at the local Tanner gun show from a known source for target practice. I am in the process of learning to reload and will be loading my own for target practice soon.
