So i was looking intodoing competitive shooting and was planning on using my Llama 1911 when i stumbled acrossed a picture of an accidental trick shot i made on a block of wood with my 4006 durring my first outing with it. I figured i definatly cant get better shots with my 1911 than this:

First shot was DA and the follow up was SA and consecutive after being drown from my serpa holster and was shot at 25 yards. I proceeded to split the block thinking i had missed but didnt see any sort of burst around my target to indicate this and thats what i found in the block of wood.

Anybody here actually have expierence with the 4006 in competitive shooting? If so, what kind of competition and how did you/your 4006 fare during competition? I mostly want to do this for fun and to better my pistol skills as i am mostly a .17 hmr guy that hunts coyotes and other varmint. Comments? Opinions?

I use one in USPSA Limited 10 and it shines very nicely there! Strong as an ox, reliable with any ammo I have ever fed it, is accurate and comfortable as well. Magazines are readily available as are holsters.

Might work for you as well!

it is action pistol, plenty of shooting, running and gunning to boot!, great folks very willing to help out....go to the USPSA website and get the whole story, find a local club...lots of fun indeed.

IPSC with 4006

I'm using a 4006TSW in IPSC Limited 10 class. I only load 10 in the mags, get the possibility for major hits instead of minor like in Production.

It is a better shot than I am. I am the only one shooting S&W 3rd gen, most in production are using either a Glock or Sig, the 1911 guys are shooting in different classes, usually with highly modified weapons.

the 4006 is dead on reliable, fun to shoot and works well with the DA first round. I'm shooting against myself after a decade off but I really wouldn't trade it for much, maybe a Sig but that's it.
