Hi, I'm the proud new owner of a 4006tsw..it's still in the mail, though. I have a question. I read an article about the CHP having a problem with the "sear." The article says the parts were shipped to CHP gunsmiths and replaced. Does my Gun have the possibility of having the same problem? I don't have a serial # or anything yet, but I know the gun has only been fired 30 times. The seller is from Wyoming (I guess it could be new). THANKS!

Hello T1, Anything is possible, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I have owned quite a few 3RD generation S&Ws over about the last 20 years. I have never had a problem with a sear in any of them. I suggest trying the gun to see if there is any problem with the sear. I doubt you will find a problem. If you do, S&W has the best Customer Service of any gun manufacturer I've ever dealt with. I suspect you'll find the 4006TSW to be a very durable and reliable pistol. By the way, I have in the past, called and given S&W Customer Service my model and serial number and they have given me the manufacture date and if the gun has ever been returned for repair, what was repaired, etc. Very good outfit in my experience.

I don't remember the specific details at this time, but I do remember calling and asking about this when I heard about it.

As I recall, I was told the sear involved didn't cause a malfunction in a new 4006TSW, and seemed to be an isolated manufacturing event, but to allay any concerns they replaced an entire shipment of sears in their guns (sent them a shipment of new sears for them to install).

Once I was told what had happened it struck me as no big deal, and I pretty much put it out of my mind, which is my excuse for not remembering any more details.

Thanks for responding! I appreciate it. I guess it was just a bulk order problem they had. Now I am at peace. I am so anxious to finally get my gun. I love this new hobbie!
