I would prefer the 4040.
The 4013/4014 is bigger (single stack but bigger frame if it's an old one and double stack if it's a newer one).
I believe that it would be hard to find additional magazines for the single-stack 4013/4014.
The 4040 is a .40 S&W version of the 3913NL but with a Hogue rubber grip.
That said, I'm confused by the "gold and matte" bit. Of the handful of 4040s that I have seen in the ferrous flesh, none has been two-tone. Could it be an aftermarket finish or did it come that way from the factory? I also, if memory serves, have not seen any mention of 4040 two-tone finish in the S & W catalogs of the period.
