My .41 Magnum snubbie collection is growing.

Changed the grips around, too.....again The Jovino Effectors are now wearing proper N round butt grips instead of the modified K frame round butt grips I fit to them.
Who woulda thunk that N RB grips would fit what was advertised as N square butt converted to K round butt..well Duh!

Any information, confirmation of, or correction to the information I gleaned out of old threads about the Lew Horton and Performance Center 657s would be greatly appreciated.

Grips are the factory combat.

John Jovino "Effector" Model 657 conversion, S.N. prefix AUL, circa 1987
Grips are N round butt Ahrends Tactical finger groove combat.

Grips are the laminated rosewood combat from the PC 657-4.

I am speechless.....those are some really nice 41's.....do they ever get out to play?

I really like the looks of the Jovino style cut on the barrel...and those PC laminate grips are too cool for words...

Great collection. I lucked into one of the M657-4 Lew Hortons a year or more ago. What a great action and well balanced piece. I have yet to work up a load for it.

The "regular" 657 gets out at least once a year. I have had that one for 23 years, bought it new and was the only .41 snub I had until April this year when I traded for the 2 Jovinos.
The PC and LH I just got these past two weeks. I've shot the 657 Effector, but have not shot the others...yet.

Have you shot all the different grips on your guns?

If so which grips do you fine the most comfortable with full power ammo?

Let me add that I have a set of the Ahrends Tactical Smooth grips on my 325 NG.

I picked them because they keep the "little" gun little.

However I like the way they look, and the way they feel and they are fairly comfortable to shoot with 230gr full power 45 ACP ammo.

Okay, I shot the LH, PC and both Jovinos today. Obviously they are not 25 yard target revolvers
so after checking velocity on a couple of loads I moved up to 9 yards from the target(That is where the shade was.)
The results of one cylinder full of double action deliberate fire with a 220 grain cast bullet over 7.9 grains of Unique
are shown in the photo below.

The average velocities recorded from the 2 5/8" 657 Defensive Revolver using an Oehler 33 chronograph were,
910fps for 220 grain cast SWC over 7.9 grains of Unique and 1195fps for a 210 grain JSP over 21 grains of H110.

The cast bullet load was very mild and comfortable to shoot in all the revolvers. The 210 grain JSP load definitely had more
bark and muzzle jump but was not objectionable nor painful to shoot.

Only a couple of problems were encountered.
The front sight is too tall on the PC 657 Defensive Revolver. With the rear sight adjusted
all the way up it was still shooting about 4 inches low at 25 yards.
I also learned that cast bullets and a Mag-Na-Port'ed blued revolver is real bugger to clean.
There were lead deposits on the side of the barrel rib above the ports. Plus, I
really could not tell that the ports made any difference in muzzle rise or felt recoil.

Comfort and pointability were best with the Ahrends without finger grooves and the Hogue grips followed by the Ahrends w/fg
and the Altamont grips. The only grips actually hurt shooting with were the Mustang grips shown on the Jovino 657 in the
photo below......though they do look good on one of my 6" 657s

Great photos....and I am glad to see that they do get out to play from time to time....being in MN you ought to have cool enough weather that you could CC the stainless ones without worry about finish wear....if I had a good holster, I would carry mine during the winter months.

That is a GREAT collection...so when do you get the 357 Night Guard to complete the collection???

I am hoping to one day find one of the 657-4 PC guns...the new one with the IL isn't going to cut it...
