Good Call! I almost bought a 3" mod. 57 that I found on the Forum, GunsAmerica or Gun Broker, and the guys selling it was here within 5 miles of my place. It was a special run for one of the big distributors. I never go it because the seller could never seem able to get together with me. Oh, well; I have 2 mod 58 4 inchers and 3 mod 57's in 4" and 6". Hey; what's wrong with an extra inch?

Great caliber, wish I had one. I still have brass and bullets for when I come across one for the right price.

I am seriously thinking about placing my ANIB 4" Mod 57 no dash, SN NXXX763 made in 1979-80. It is in the original wood and velvet lined presentation case with complete, all perfect tools and paperwork.
As some of you may know, my 6yr old Rottweiler, Ralphie, has Lymphoma aka cancer. I am going through the lengthy and expensive chemo treatment for him and will sell this to give him his best chance. I've had maybe 15 dogs over my 62+ years, and Ralphie is the top dog. I told the Vet he would kill for me if I were threatened and I would do the same for him. My thinking that day may have been a little "off-center" however he deserves the best I can give him and I will do what I need to do to stand by him.
If I decide to sell it, I will post photos and details here and then on the Forum selling board.
Thanks, beemerrider

I really like the .41 mag. I carry a 657 3" with 240 grain silver tips in cooler weather where I can conceal it under a shirt or coat. I've got a 4" 57 and 58 and picked up a long barreled Blackhawk in .41 mag not long ago. I deer hunt with a 657 7 1/2" with the same load. I will find a lever .41 mag eventually. A five shot L frame would be interesting...but what's the chance of that?

Lastyear my very first S&W (new) is an N frame model 57 w/ 6" barrel in 41mag in nickel. My LGS at the time had them all for $699. I went back and got the Model 58 4" barrel in nickel also a week later. For some reason he is almost sold out of the new S&W N frame revolvers.

beemerrid; I know the feeling i just lost my female rottie i had for 10 years.(cancer) When she was 6 months old and 70lbs the PO just couldn't carry her anymore. No one wanted her so i took her in. She was a great dog and one of the best i ever had. When she passed away part of me died with her. That night my whole family came over since all of them grew up with her from when she was a pup to show her respect. She was a friendly 145lb rottie but very protective. I hope to get another one like her...I take in abandoned kittens and dogs that no one wants. I save what i can.

I really like the 41 magnum. I have a M657 and a M57 in a 6" configuration. Ammunition is expensive as all get out to buy, so you have to reload unless you are rich ;)

I find that these shoot really flat and very well but even reloads on the light side tend to be stout. This caliber is almost perfectly between the 357 and the 44 respectively.

I wish I had one in a 3" it might replace my M19 2.5" as one of my carry guns. I tend to rotate what I carry depending on weather; bigger in winter and smaller, like a M49 or a M640, in summer.

I would love a 3" N framed 658 or L framed .41 mag. Also bring back the 6.5" 657 Classic Hunter. These would go great with my 4" M58, 6.5" Blackhawk, 14" TC Contender and 20" Marlin 94.

A S&W M58 with a 3" barrel sounds good too? I was very surprised how great my new S&W M58 with 4" barrel handled at the range with the federal 210gr jhp ammo. If S&W offered the 657 hunter with the full under lug i'd remorgage to get them all.

I would like a 657 with 8 3/8" bbl. This was a regular catalouged item in the early 90's but at nearly $500 then there was just no way I could afford it. They made a 7 1/2" until recently but there is just something about that 8 3/8" barrel.

I hope we see more brand new M58's and M57's in 41mag soon at our dealers? I hope to see all the N frames being offered again.
