I have these magazines for my 422 and the one with the knurled button works, while the bulls-eye doesn't. It fits, but won't engage the mag safety so the gun won't fire.

Is this normal, and is there a way to make the bulls-eye one work?

I'm guessing the mag safety is a little tang or lever in the mag well that gets pushed up by some part of the top of the mag.

Figure out where the mag safety contacts the magazine then compare that area of the two magazines. I'm betting a feed lip or rim of the top of the non-functional magazine is bent differently. It doesn't usually take much movement to disengage the mag safety so correspondingly it doesn't usually take much of a flaw in the magazine to keep it from disengaging.

And for grins, here's one of the good ones that fell into my spare tire well after a range trip. Soaked it in evapo-rust then blued it and it's back to work!

I had trouble with some mags that would not seat completely into the magwell and/or not allow the slide to go forward all the way in my 422 or 2206. They did function in a friends model 41. These mags were brand new OEM, SW mags in plastic package with white and blue label.
I recently ordered some new mags that came in same plastic package but with black and red M&P label. These mags work fine in my pistols.
Seems like there are some mags that are just a little out of spec and won't function in all the different models, 422, 622, 2206, 41 as they should.

Update - I confirmed that the mag was not engaging the mag safety, so I was able to use a punch to flare out the catch on the side of the mag, and it now works! I think that the mag safety is a little worn, thus the problem. I may have to replace it eventually, but for now I'm happy.
