Scope or not,

Show us your stuff.

10 shots

25 yards resting.

I want to see some of those scoped long barrel 44s.

Smallest group posted by end of month wins.

Picture of the gun, target and a tape measure to enter.

Enter early, Enter often!

Most people I know with .44's have just the irons . To keep it fair and even how about a class for irons and a class for scopes ?
Just a thought .

DONE!

I only have one 44 mag and it has a scope so I can use it to its capabilities.

To each his own.

Next months match will be 100 yards!

Please inform of the load you are using in your 44.

Magnum loads will break a tie over specials.

S&W revolvers break ties over other brands.

I will be shooting scope with max magnum loads.
Iron sights with a 2.5" Bulldog shooting specials. All this will do is give everybody else something to beat.

Shooting mine today.

Have fun, enter early, enter often.

OK, I went out today in the wind and snow (excuses already) To shoot this match and the Snubby match. First was the 44 (I am embarrassed not a Smith) and shot one target of my Gas checked home cast 240 with a full charge of 2400 and one with a 200 grain XTP.

I did not shoot the bulldog in this match.. . Yet.

I shoot hunter silly wets with this gun every year.

This match was started because the 45 match was plenty of ACP guns and not Smith and Wesson. SO I thought the 44 match would bring out some more smiths. Just one silly Ruger.

Perhaps it is the weather. I could not shoot today, its only -5f.

David

I fully intended on shooting this with my Ruger and my Smith & Wesson but then the damned snow started coming in by the feet!! Can't get near the pistol range so I guess I'll just have to wait until the weather calms down and warms up. Wind chills are around -10 today

It IS around -10 today here, wind chill makes it colder. Snow is up to my butt in the back yard.

We will leave this open till spring and see if it picks up.

Oh, sure! So I bump along with my Horse MIL Spec 1911, spraying fliers all over the range and providing needed comedy relief for the entrants... then I secretly upgraded to a fine [K-word, made in Yonkers] 45acp... and started shooting out the very MIDDLE of the target, not the 2 & 3 ring... and... and... you changed the caliber on me!

:D

So I'll just observe.

:D

Please shoot a 25 yard group resting and post a picture with what ever gun you have.

Shoot the middle out.

David

Can I assume that you can use any brand .44? Or S&W only? My only .44 is an Italian Pietta Arms SA 6 shot revolver.

Punch some holes with that puppy and show us what you got!! The more the merrier. If it actually gets up to 29* like the weather guessers say it's supposed to, I may try and cut a trail to the target board out at the club.

Well I do belong to an inside range, so I'll be inside and warm. Considering the 6" of snow and the below 20 temps, I wouldn't be shooting if I wasn't indoors!

My 44 cal Pietta 1858 is a tack driver. You won't be at any disadvantage.

But I'm not going to the range when it's only -10° F out there.

Mine is the 1873 model. I've just picked it up used, the fixed sites are a bit off for me. But I have adjusted POA to POI and am learning. I love shooting it, except when I have to refill the ammo boxes!

No it does not have to be a smith to enter.

I invited Harley Fan to shoot his 45 in the match.

So far 1.5" is the target to beat!

For those of you that are chatting with out pictures.....

Automatic disqualification here... (Wrong distance, wrong caliber, wrong number of rounds)

I got to the range last night, swelled with pride at the break-in results so far with this Kimber. Well, I kinda forgot how far away the back of the range was. Hell, I can't even SEE anything back there. Hence the tape.

This is 14 shots at 17 yards... rear of the range, 45acp. I was excited about this one... until I measured it. :D

I actually did better on the 15th... 7 shots, 17 yards resting.

To the Shield Match thread, I tried my hand. looks like a 90 score.

OK... enough of this hijacking, back to the 45's. Thanks, David R for the inclusion.

:D

Hijacking allowed. I am carrying my lightweight officers model today. On my way out the door, I grabbed a box of 45s. I am going to try to beat your shield match target.:D

I've had this 10" Freedom Arms 44 Mag for a few years and always shot it at 50 yds, 25yds was pointless. Last week I put a Burris handgun scope on it for the first time and am anxious to see its potential at 100yds.
