In a recent post, the thread drifted to presentation cases for early 44 Magnums (see thread here http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-ha...5-44-mag-beauty-4-screw-8-375-model-29-a.html). As a result, I pulled out all of my long-tube cases and I realized that I have 5 of the different incarnations of the presentation cases. With it being the holidays, I took them out for an iPhone photo shoot. So here are the 5 types of 8.375" cases that I have:
Type 1 (Earliest Presentation Case for 8.375" 4-screw pre-29s and model marked 29s):
Type 2 (also known as a "clamshell" case - styrofome top and bottom inserts sandwiched the gun when closed):
Type 3 (molded plastic inserts with slots for specific tools):
Type 4 (right facing molded plastic bottom insert with "tool box" - originally flocked in blue flocking almost all of which deteriorated very quickly):
Type 5 (flocked foam bottom and top inserts):
I'm sure that there are other presentation cases out there, and it is very possible that I did not get them labeled in the proper convention, but in the interest of sharing I thought that these are a good representation for us long-tube lovers.
