Picked up a S&W 442-1 today for $315 + Tax. It is a no lock and is NIB with the Blue Plastic Box. The S/N starts with CSU .....date? How was that for a price?

Will go along with my 342.

You musta got the one that shoots paint balls. Better check-))

great deal!

That is my favorite gun. I won't tell you....well OK. I paid about $100 more than you did. Try a DeSantis Superfly pocket holster. You can reverse the flap and make it a sweat shield during the summer. Enjoy your new revolver.

My 442 compliments my 340sc .357 I carried it all day today in an Uncle Mikes pocket holster

Nice pair of J-Frames

Excellent - I thought my $361 out the door price was good! Get yourself a Mika and you are in business.

Sweet piece, great (really great) price. I had a custom leather lefty IWB made for mine. I don't carry it too often but it's still one of my favs. Enjoy!

That's a real good price. I ended up paying right at $400 for mine last year, but that did include a box of Ny-clads.

I paid alot more than that for mine, maybe 2 years ago. That's a great deal. I love mine. I've put over 1500 rounds through it and I seem to like it better every time I shoot it. I carry mine in a pocket holster and a pancake by Simply Rugged. I rarely leave home without it.

Excellent gun, and a pretty good deal. I can't help you with a date of manufacture, but if you call S&W on their 800 number, they will be happy to tell you (at least the year built). I recently picked up a 442, serial No. CER7XXX, which was apparently built in early 2001 (came with the original box, all the S&W paperwork, the factory fired case in an envelop dated in February, 2001, and the original sales slip, from September, 2001). It had a professional action job by a nationally known gunsmith in Phoenix, and is the smoothest J frame I ever fired, absolutely amazing! I paid a bit less out the door than your base price of $315, but the owner of the gun shop is a good friend of mine, and usually gives me great deals (I buy a LOT of guns from him). It has replaced my trusty Model 60 for pocket carry (I went to an all day CPE course in Phoenix yesterday, in my Galco leather pocket holster from about 0400 to 2330), and it practically weighs nothing. This one is either a pre-lock or no lock, with a real (not a two-piece) barrel, and has its original Uncle Mike's boot grips, which actually work for even my big hands. It is so light, it is not only comforting, but comfortable, as well. Yes, I have fired it, and it is darned accurate, as well. I know you're going to enjoy your new 442, they are probably the best pocket revolvers around!

Thanks for the idea of the date on the fired case package. 4-12-2012! Can't get much newer than that.... It is a one piece barrel and has no lock.

By a Mika, I'd guess you mean an Uncle Mike's holster? I have one for my 342.
.

NO! Not an Uncle Mike's, a MIKA...awesome pocket holster; worn by none other than me; a fellow Jarhead.
