I bought a 442-2 a year ago, probably today, and have put maybe 100 rounds through it and probably three times that in dry fire. I was inspecting the firearm and measuring gap/endshake and found the standard gap to measure at .007" with an expansion to .011" when lightly pulling back on the cylinder. The cylinder endshake measures at .004". I contacted S&W and they informed me that the endshake is excessive and the firearm needs to be repaired. The ejector rod also visibly wobbles when rotating the cylinder with my palm.
Just for some context I am the same guy 2 months ago who had to reject a new 36-11 for transfer as it appeared pretty poorly made with scratches and dings all over it. Is this just how Smith & Wesson is now? Ship the guns out and fix them later if/when a customer finds all the issues with them? My Model 10-9 I posted here last week has 0 issues whatsoever and its 34 years old!
