Every once in awhile I see a mention about the 4506 being able to shoot the 45 super.Has anyone on this forum really done it? What mods were needed if any? I would be worried about damaging the gun.On other thing,I reload some of my 45 rounds to about 950 fps with a 225 gr lead. How much better would the super be than my loads? That is my black bear protection load SHOULD I ever need it but really don't expect it.All the black bears I come across avoid me.And I've had at least 6 or 7 bears walking across my property every year from apr to nov.I'm an avid 1911 45 shooter but have a 4506-1 that feeds EVERYTHING I put in it.The only downside to it is the heavy trigger.....WOW sorry for the ramble, guess thats what happens from living alone in the mountains.

Just another train of thought, but since it's always a good thing to acquire another gun, and since that conversion kit is not going to come cheap, I'd think about a S&W or Ruger large frame revolver in .44 Mag.

Other benefits - there are lots of good loads available that will easily put down a black bear, and are relatively inexpensive compared to .45 Super Buffalo Bore.

I'd be looking for a S&W 629 with a 4" or 6" barrel, or a Ruger Redhawk with 4 1/4" barrel or Ruger Super Alaskan if you want something a little smaller.
