$46 A Box For Remington 380 ACP AMMO

I just can't imagine people are that hard up for ammo. But I see it every day. A local Gander Mountain is getting $24.99 for the same Blazer Brass 40 S&W that Walmart sells for $12.49. The thing is, someone will go to Walmart and they will be temporarily sold out. They will then go to Gander and buy all they can afford because they think it's the end of days. Crazy, but apparently, it's the same thing online. This GB buyer probably left out a big sigh of relief because he finally found some .380 ammo. It's becoming the old used gun adage "it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it".

I was seriously considering buying one of the new Khar 380 pistols. That ain't gonna happen... I'll stick with more affordable cartridges that are much easier to locate.

Bought a couple boxes, UMC FMJ 380 for $22.00 per box.

Just picked up a delivery of 500 rounds of Remington 357 158 JSP. $400.00 with shipping. It will last me along time. Plan on going hunting this fall with my new Marlin 94 & Ruger Blackhawk.

I wish this ammo "shortage" would stop.

I bought about 3 cases of 380 ammo (American Eagle and PMC) in early 2008 when it was $9.99 a box. I don't plan on selling any, but given current prices, I'm sure I could get $20 a box, which is a bargain compared to $46 a box.

As my neighbor stated to me last night over a few beers..."it's not a question of price/ it's a question of availabilty". He purchased $1,100 of assorted ammo from Cheaper Than Dirt earlier in the week.

I think it's fine. This past weekend I paid $65 to purchase 4 boxes of Remington 380 at flea market. Which seemed a lot to me but as I do not presently have a 380 I'm hoping to take advantage of some of those well heeled individuals panic buying on Gunbroker.

Now the real find ammo wise there was a Winchester Super X box that still contained 23 rounds of 16ga #4 Buck, for $5. As I shoot 16 gauge that was a real find. Last 12ga buck I bought cost just over $1 a round.

Dang, at those prices it won't take very many boxes of purchased ammo to buy oneself a very nice basic reloading outfit, and start crankin out .380s (or whatever caliber) at 10 cents a shot/$5.00 a box of 50!! As an avid reloader for over 30 years, I shudder to think that pistol ammo is at $1 a shot!! My per round reloaded costs for everything up to .45 LC is less than 10 cents a shot.

Simple supply and demand as I was told in another thread.

Why would anyone be against capitalism?

YOU COULD GET $40 A BOX IN TN.

I reload, so I put 200rds of S&B on gun broker, and I got $180 for them.. I paid $13/50rds. I turned around and bought more 380 reloading components. Needless to say, the 200rds paid for thousands of rounds for reloading.

i guess im not shocked since ive always figured H.P. ammo would be about .75cents per round and target ammo a little less than that.

thats how i figure in my ammo expendatures anyway.....
