I'm looking to buy a .475 wildey magnum.

I know this is a S&W forum, but thought you guys might know something about them.

Can anyone give any input as to how they are to shoot and any other advice on them?

I wouldnt buy one for the reason of the o rings in the slide could give you issues a friend of mine had one he had nothing but problems with it so he got rid of it. Maybe in a warmer climate they would be alright but here in the great white north of Canada they didnt perform to well. He was always adjusting it as for .475 brass is also hard to find unless you want to use .284 and shorten it down to lenght and resize it that works too. They are a cool gun but they have there issues..

I heard the guides use them in Alaska for protection from the brown bears etc.

Wildey is a few towns away from me in Warren CT. I actually met him at the Bantam in one night several years ago when my wife and I were having dinner. He is a customer of hers. She pointed him out and told me who he was. This was before I even heard of a wildey magnum.
