I have a 48-4 that I inherited many years ago. It is labeled "5 3/4" barrel-pinned". I thought the 4", 6", and 8 3/8" were the only options. Some Googling shows several other Model 48-4's listed online with descriptions of 5 3/4" barrels as well but I'm having a hard time finding anything specific.

I've put a tape measure to it and the barrel is definitely 5 3/4". Anyone have info on these?

Usually revolver barrels run +/- 1/8” from advertised length, but 1/4” had been reported here before. It may have taken shotening the forcing cone/moving the barrel shoulder to get it to fit properly.

Edit to add: did the factory label state “5 3/4” pinned”?

Not factory labeling. My dad, who I inherited the revolver from some 20 years ago, kept incredibly details notes and info on his firearms. I'm just getting around to looking at the tag on this one after many years and the barrel length is tripping me up. I saw that 6" was the closest to what I saw from the manufacturer but he had this one labeled as "5 3/4". Since he was so technical in his notes, I figured this must have been intentional. I wondered if there was some small run of slightly shorter barrels and when I started Googling, that's when I started coming across more of these 48-4's with the "5 3/4" or "5.75" labeling.

Officially, it’s a 6” gun.
