I shot my 500 today.I used the factory Hornady 350 gr. xtp and some handloads with 350 xtp's with h110 and CCI large rifle primers and Hornady brass. Powder weight was 43 grains. This is max load by Hodgdon website. I noticed that the factory ammo was flattening the primers but the handloads looked good.No sign of excessive pressure.Just curious if anybody else that loads has noticed .Hornady must load their ammo with a blended powder to get maximum velocity and pressure.Cases were a little snug on extracting the factory ammo while the handloads extracted fine.

All factory ammo is full power, as sometimes they stick in the chambers. Make sure you use rifle primers in your cases as in cold weather H110 becomes unreliable. I stuck a bullet and experienced hang fires with mine in cold weather.

Otherwise, the 500 is a beast to shoot, fun too.

most of my reloads come out with flat primers in any revolver caliber including the .50 cal beast. currently i am loading my 500 with lil' gun and titegroup, mixed brass, large rifle primers CCI bluebox, 350gr XTP and 325gr speer uni-core. i hope to soon be using the 440gr, 500gr GC lead bullets @ Leadheads Bullets,Gas Checked and Plain Based Bullets

i'm disappointed if the case ain't stuck

I have been shooting 370 grainers with mine, hardcast with gas check. My load data showed 35.5 grains of H110 for the max load, that is moving it at 1600+ fps. I was shooting 33 grains, just over 1500 fps with it. My load showes right at 2000 ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle. You must really be getting walloped if you are loading 43 grains of H110.
