If I said I found at a local pawn shop a S&W 500Magnum with 4inch barrel, box, paperwork that I think I can buy for $865 plus sales tax. What would members say?
Good deal?

I would want to know why it was at a local gun shop instead of in your house

I have always been fond of this configuration

I recently bought one used in the same configuration for $700 before tax from a local gun shop. They originally wanted $800, but since I've been shopping there for 19 years I usually ask if they can do better on the price. I said I'd take if they could knock off $100, they did so it came home with me a few days later.

Gun at pawn shop = take some hundreds with you and make a deal. They won’t let you walk away if you put 6 or 7 of them on the counter.

I would ask if you have a trust fund for your ammunition or reloading supplies.

Hehe, reloading is the only way with 500 or 460. Factory ammo is like $2.50+, I reload “plinking” 350 gr for under $0.70

Not to hijack or drift, but would you mind sharing that load data?
PM if'n ya want...

Easy to do. You can get Montana Bullet works cast 375gr slugs for a bit over 19 cents ea (plus shipping), 12-13gr of Trail Boss powder and a primer, so 53 cents/rd. Can't be precise on shipping Montana uses USPS flat rate boxes so if you want to go that direction, order enough to fill the box.

These are very gentle, fun loads and in my case (8.375" bbl 500 Mag) using a 405gr slug about 902 fps/732 ft lbs. Don

Picked up the 500cannon...I mean magnum today. Man, that's one big azz pistol. No doubt the biggest I own. I have always been curious and always in the back of my mind kind of wanted one. I knew I wanted the shortest barrel possible. I don't plan on shooting it a lot but I now have one if needed.
Adding Tennessee sales tax hampered it from being a better deal.

I'm not really liking the hole of the Internal Lock, where can I purchase the Stainless Plug?

Made A Pic

Took the big rubber grip off, cleaned a little with some Mother's ( had a lot of prints) looks better I think. Now to see about a loan to purchase some ammo! lol

Hope including some of target with big holes in it.

ETA:
Maybe include some of carry rig. I usually find that somewhat interesting.

If the .500 floats your boat, then have at it. I personally do not see a need for anything bigger than a .44 Magnum and the .357 Magnum is my favorite wheelgun cartridge. Different strokes, and all that stuff.

Those two sentences are what many use to slight the 500 Mag. It has tremendous versatility and power range to go with outstanding accuracy. Don
