I sort of follow the hammer price of 500 rounds of 5.56 on GB.

Tonight, 6/12/21, 500 rounds of Hornady 5.56 55GR FMJ sold for $281.01 on GB in a true auction.

To me, this signals that an ever quickening slide back to "normal" prices is now upon us. My guess is that those who stocked up in the hope to resell for a profit will be dumping their wares to take advantage of prices while they are still relatively inflated. And those of us who still have enough ammo on hand for the time being will wait till we see prices close to what they were before the "panic/shortage." For me that means not buying a 500 round case of 5.56 till I see it at $175 before shipping and taxes.

But, but, but … I was told here that prices were never coming down again, and this was the "new normal" & I should "get used to it"

LOL

cycles wind up, and cycles wind down. Just like many of us said. ;)

I'm seeing lots of ammo at gun stores, many with lower, but still high prices. Tells me that supply is definitely catching up with demand. IMO, it'll take a while to see prices come down some more, but it's underway now.

When the dust settles, prices will be higher, but that's due to the inflation we're seeing in all goods and materials. You print trillions of dollars out of thin air, prices/inflation will go up!

Samuel Clemons posted on his blog that reports on the Internet of a never ending ammo shortage were great exaggerated
