Hello,

My Husband keeps talking about wanting a Smith and Wesson 511. I was hoping to buy one for his Birthday or this Christmas. I know he likes hand guns that have the hammer and all one color (Yes I am a totally newb).

I have google'd the internet and gone to S&W site I don't see any information about a 511. I have seen information on a 411 and 1911. Am I just not paying attention and hearing him wrong?
When I causally asked him about how much they cost he said 300-500$.

So I am asking, does this gun exist, what is it actual full model name, when was it made and what do you think is a reasonable price?

I would apprentice any advice you can give. If I ask to many questions of my husband then he will get suspicious and it won't be a surprise.

Thanx

First off, welcome to the Forum.
I have never heard of a M511. My initial though was the M411, a .40 S&W double action semi-auto pistol. Is the gun you want to know about a semi-auto or a revolver? If you know any details fill us in and I'll bet somebody on here can help.
Oh, and don't worry, one rule we have here is we NEVER tell spouses ANYTHING.:D

I was thinking maybe you misunderstood him and am thinking that he wants a 1911?

My guess is 411, as there is no way a S&W 1911 is $300-$500 unless in really bad shape. The 411 would be in that price range, better try asking him what caliber it is.

Here is a pic of the model 411, which shoots .40 S&W caliber ammuntion.

The picture looks right.

I bet it is the 411. I know it is a semi-auto that he wants and I was talking to him about caliber and he wants a .40 : )

We have a short 2 barrel shot gun at home, a old school revolver and a small .22. He wanted a .40 to round out our "collection" and have different guns to take to the range. He was very fixed on the Smith and Wesson : )

Thank You guys so much!!!! Now I am just going to price and condition hunt. Any recommendations on things to watch out for? or be concerned about?

Thanx

Glad we were able to straighten that out for you.
A good used M411 should be in pretty good shape. I'd have somebody you trust that knows a bit about S&Ws look it over. Unless it has had a gazillion rounds through it you should be able to pick one up for the price you mentioned. I had a used one several years ago and it was a good gun.
I hope your Hubby knows how fortunate he is to have such a thoughtful Wife. If not, tell him to talk to us. AFTER he gets his new gun.:D
