Can you make a model 39 mag. work in model 52 with 38 WC?

Can't recall anyone ever suggesting or trying it, but the fact that model 52 magazines go for $150-200 likely indicates it is not possible.

I doubt it would work because the base diameter of the 9mm case is 0.394" while the base diameter of the .38 Special is 0.440".
