55th hi-school reunion

The only HS reunion I attended was my 40th. So depressing I never wanted to go to another.

I've been to every one of mine, and had a great time!

I went a small Catholic high school...only 85 in our class of '71. Most of my classmates are still alive, and doing pretty well. We actually have a Facebook group, and keep up with each other...it's fun.

Our 50th will be next year...looking forward to it! :)

Class of 1974. Went to 40th and 45th. Our 8th grade history teacher and later "Dean of Boys" was there at both and a hit!

There were 155 in our class, 127 graduated together and 10 did summer school! Almost half are gone #1 reason; Heart Failure & Stroke #2 Drug abuse (which contributed to #1) #3 Accidents, car and otherwise. No military deaths!

Otis, one of my classmates, would sneak up behind me at Hometown Buffet and in his deep gruff voice say "We lost another one", then tell me who passed. Otis passed about 3 weeks after our last reunion, a friend from church told me, I turned around to look, but he wasn't there. I always thought he would tell me himself!

Never been to one, keep in touch with the friends I had back then.

First and Last Renunion

I attended the 45th reunion of my public high school but it was their first reunion. There weren't 44 reunions preceding it. It was a disappointment. Then, I wasn't in any clicks or the in-crowd. I barely recognized anyone. But, the saddest thing about the reunion was to learn that the girl I took to the high school prom had passed away some years before. There were at least a dozen former alumni posted on a bulletin board and who were deceased. I guess it was necessary to know why certain alumni were not in attendance but it served as a reminder that the same fate awaits all of us.

A few years ago my wife decided she wanted to go to her 50th HS reunion. It was at a small recreation center with several different large rooms for events like that. She was checking out which room was correct one and said, "There's a bunch of old people in this one." I said " You have the right room." If looks would have killed....

I've been to all mine except one and I was in the hospital with a heart attack then. Class of 1969. Went to our 50th last year and had a ball. Our class was over 500 and there were about 75 at the reunion.

My class of 1963 had 990 grads, so I didn't know most of them. Time has sure taken its toll - Vietnam took four, several passed away within just a few years of graduating, and the rest are dropping like flies. I went to our 50th and will go to the 55th, if they don't charge too much. They're enjoyable because the great looking girls you remember from school days didn't turn out like you would have imagined. The guys turned out OK, but the girls must have ingested a fat gene from the school lunches.
