Hi all,

Im sure this has been brought up at one time or another

My LGS got in a 57-3. Gun appears all original, finish, springs, etc, except the barrel is only roll marked on the left. There is no "41 magnum" roll mark on the right side. The revolver needs a sight as the previous owner put a scope base on it. I have a sight and kicked around buying it as a shooter since its a -3 with the endurance package. How rare is an error like this and how does it affect value? Any input appreciated

Weird things seem to come from S&W, barrels with no caliber marking or wrong caliber marking do happen. Not often, but evidently, once assembled into a complete revolver, out the door they go.

I'm not a collector but I don't think errors like that add anything to the value. I would use it to try to get the price down and take home a good shooter.

I feel like the idea of using it for leverage to get it cheaper may be the ticket. We dont see many 57's in my area. Ive only found two 58's and own them both. I have a 57 with a 4" barrel and its mint. Id love this one for carry and shooter. Its priced $850. Add the fact it needs a sight that puts it at about $1,000. I have a sight but it would cost me at least 150 to replace it. Id think getting it for $750 out the door would be a fair deal. Stocks arent original but they are a decent set of walnut finger groove. I have a set of Ahrends that would look great on it. Maybe my magnas and a Tyler T. My hands fit magnas and T grips great. Thanks for everyones input. If they take my offer ill post pics

I found this 57-3 strapped with combats a
few weeks ago.
The right side just has 41 magnum etched not
rolled marked.
Pulled the combats and put on some magna's.
Packed most of this deer season.
