Just curious if anyone else might possess this revolver?? It's a 586-3 with factory laser engraving. Apparently, S&W started laser engraving back in 1989 which is the born on date for this gun. Not really common but it's easy to find other examples out there. I was just hoping to maybe find someone with a factory letter that might shed a little more light on the subject. Mine has "11-89 RSR" written in pen on the label but that doesn't really mean anything. The book says nothing about an RSR special run and the product code yields nothing. Thanks!

Product code 103545 was introduced in 1988 at the -2 engineering revision. Production continued into the -3 engineering revision.

This Model was called the LaserMax and I believe that ~1900 were produced.

This was an incredibly poor selling offering and the bulk of them were sold off at deep discounted prices just to get them out of inventory.

I had one a while ago, never had the box so I didn't have the product code, I'll pass this info along to the guy I sold it to.

Really?? Can't imagine why it would be a poor seller. Take an otherwise beautiful gun and engrave it like dog doo doo?? Say it ain't so! lol
