I have seen this subject many time on this forum, about the mod done by the factory for the cylnd. locking up. Would my 586-4 be in this run of defects ? Ser # BSH43xx , I havent had the chance to use it much yet , and have only shot .38's in it so far . I' am not sure of date of manufacture either, any help would be appreciated ,thanks Greg

Others who have far more knowledge than me will be along to answer definitively, but I'm pretty sure that was a factory recall only for the 586 no dash models (not 586-1, 586-2, etc.). My no dash model already had the M stamp on the crane when I got it five years ago.

Something about the cyl. binding , something todo with the fireing pin I belive . I you look on the siote there will be many threads & posts about it , good luck ,Greg

The recall and subsequent modification applied to only the no-dash and the dash 1s. And for what its worth, many consider the dash 4s the best of the bunch. If you'd like more detail, check the FAQ section of this forum. A copy of the original factory recall notice is posted there. Dash 4s ran from 1994 to 1997. Your serial number puts it in 1994.
