So here is my new to me 586. I took it out last weekend and LOVE IT. The grips were pretty faded out and cheap looking, but the rest of the gun was in great shape.

Our friend VM made me a deal on a set of his refinished grips. That's all this gun needed.

Hummm... finger-grove (combat) grips, wood or rubber, seem to be the choice in grips for most 586's.

Congratulations on an excellent purchase. I have a later model 586 and I LOVE IT. What a fun shooter.

Since this is quickly turning in to a 586 photo thread, I'll throw one in.

Also, now you need to begin the hunt for a nice Model 17-6 (full lug 17 like your 586). They make perfect companions (17-6 on left, 586-7 on right):

I have just started the 10 day california wait to pick up my new to me 586-7 7 shot 4" barrel.
This is a good looking gun and I was told that it is one of 1000 made can anyone enlighten me on this claim serial # CHS92**

likestoshoot2, congrats to you as well for nabbing the 586-7 in CA. I'm in the cess pool too and trust me when I say they are not easy to come by around here. I had to get mine from out of state. You're going to LOVE it. What you heard about the numbers is correct.
