Stopped in at our local Gander Mt. and there in the used case were 5 /5906 pistols marked at 429dollars , well after checking them all out I asked for the store Mgr. and asked him what was his best price because there list was a little high, after several minutes of talking he agreed to take 375 out the door, now to me that was agreeable ,guns in Ohio are very high, this pistol was produced in 1994 per S&W, overall it rated 95% only showing very little ware and scuff marks on the grips, metal and bore are mint, wonder where this pistol has been because it was just packed full of dried grease, cleaned up super fine, happy with my deal.:)

Our Gander Mountain has them for $499, I never asked if they would come down. I might ask and see what they say.

Gander Mt. located on Holland Ohio just outside of Toledo.

The ones I saw at a local GM looked like they were dragged behind a truck. Glad you could find a good one there.

I have to agree the others showed lots of use , grips were terrible lots of scratches & scuff marks on the metal , one was even pitted near the grip, the shipping label on the box shows that the gun was shipped to this GM last April , so they have had these gun for a while , That is why the Mgr. was willing to deal , they wanted to move them, In any event happy about the gun & deal I got, forgot to mention the gun came with 2 -15 rds mags.

GM generally is way too proud of their firearms but you did well. Congratulations!

Gander Mt. In Minnesota had a new Taurus for well over $100 above anyone else's price. When challenged on this fact, they said that the price included Gm's Warranty. I asked if Taurus didn't all ready have a life time warranty. They said yes and I asked why I needed to pay more for theirs, and the answer was, "I don't know".

My Gander Mountain in Middletown, NY had a Ruger LC9 (which I was looking for) for $499. Would have cost me probably $540 total. I got one on Gunbroker, and even with shipping and FFL fees, I spent just over $400. I did score a LNIB Stoger Cougar for $299 once there. Gun looked brand new with box and papers. Good deal.

Maybe they'll fix it in-house rather than ship it to taurus, or maybe they will do a straight up exchange for a new on. I hear Taurus service sucks royally and is very slow. My local dealer has a sign in his shop warning customers he will no longer allow them to ship their defective Taurus through his store. He also won't buy a used taurus from someone for more than $25.

Congrats! You did very well. I've only had my 5906 for about 2 months and I couldn't be happier with it.
Nodding my head in agreement regarding all the posts deriding GM's delsuional gun pricing:eek:. Thank heavens that there are other options in my neck of the woods.

Thank You ,I agree that GM has very high prices on there guns , what really gets me is there buy policy, as I understand it they will rate a gun at 98% for a high and only pay 65% of that , so they really are out in left field with that policy , they really take advantage of some guy down on his luck who wants some fast cash to keep things going, what a shame but thats life, now they will ony give a 30 day warranty on used guns also .

I never thought about it and thought it was just "my" GM here in Houston that seemed to be routinely high on their handgun prices.
I wanted to pick up a brand new Kahr CM9 so I went by GM, but they quoted it at 559.00 when I KNOW it could be had for less anywhere else.
I trotted over to Carters and bought a brand new CM9 that same day for 449.00.

I wonder if those OP 5906's were police trade-ins. That's a very popular model to find that way.
I bought my 5906 brand new about 20 years ago, give or take, but have only put maybe two boxes through it. Big and bulky for carry, but it's still a great pistol and makes a perfect bedside pistol.
