It's not just GPS. One of the bands opened up to 5G was near the 22 GHz water absorption maximum that is monitored by weather satellites. Many do not have filtering and frequency control tight enough to avoid interference from 5G.

In Europe they've had fewer 5G problems. First, the whole band plan is different, and second they allocated less bandwidth to 5G around critical frequencies and facilities. The cell industry here whines that they need more bandwidth near airports because of the concentration of people. Tough, so some some don't get to make call, receive texts, or watch cat videos without buffering. Call someone who cares.
