..not trying to hijack the thread, apologies to the OP if I am doing so...

I have 3 CM, 2 19-3 (1 Blue & 1 Nickel) & a 19-4 Blued with all 3 having 4" barrels. I have found a 19-3 (it might have been a 19-4 LGS was closing & I was in a hurry) Blue 6" in very nice shape but not the original stocks & no box. It is pinned & recessed.

I really want it but is it truly worth $550 when it is missing important features? My brain says no, but my heart says yes :) I will be going by the LGS that is in possession of it in an hour or so, and I wanted to see if I could get a few thoughts on it from some of the pros.

Opinions please? ............Anyone, I am getting ready to go there now...

I don't consider the original grips and box to be important features - if thats what you are referring to. I'm a shooter/accumulator not a "collector". Mechanical condition is what concerns me on a used revolver.

Locally $550 for a P&R model 19 is a fair deal. Buy it, shoot it, love it. Last of the everything you need in a revolver and nothing you don't S&W's. Good luck! Regards 18DAI

You can try to get them down a few dollars. Also, if you want it and aren't going to sell it, than what is $50 extra to be able to get what you want now. You can pick up some target grips later if you like. 3 years from now who will remember what you paid? Must say I do like my 66-1 6" as a target piece even over my beloved 4"ers.

Enjoy.

I stopped by yesterday and bought it. They were closed by the time I got to the shop Monday. I'll post some pics later...

You'll be happy at that price. Like someone else said... if you say it's 50 dollars to high.... BIG DEAL!
You won't buy new guns for this price!

Congratulations. And enjoy it.

You made the right choice. The price may seem a little high but I agree with the "so what?" guys. You can snoop around for whatever stocks you like at your leisure. Good for you.

Well here we go. I am not the best photographer, but I did my best. I was fortunate to have missed the shop on Monday because Tuesday had 2 M14's.

Talk about eating ramen noodles for a while sheesh  but I will do it with a big ole :D on my face. I picked up a 6" 14-2 and a 14-3 8 3/8" with diamond stocks. Both are beautiful. Bear with me and I'll get photos of them up as well.

No box or I should say 1/2 a box on the 14-3 ... why do people throw away the goodies ?

I can only upload 5 pics, I guess I should have chosen better :( The serial # is 4K429XX anyone have any idea when this puppy was born?

You did good, as they say. :) That's a great looking 19-3 and the more you shoot it the better it will get. Just remember to keep the yoke clean, especially if you are shooting mostly lead. In a few weeks you will forget all about the $550 - but you will still have that nice revolver. ;)
