In 2007, when I was turning 60, I wanted a special S&W to commemorate the "event". A big annual 3-Day gun show provided the base revolver; a pristine (shipped) May '79 Model 60. This was promptly sent to the S&W Performance Center for a mirror polish. When it got back to me it then traveled straight to Wayne D'Angelo for his beautiful art-in-metal engraving! Perfect.

10 years later I was looking to get a special 70th Birthday S&W revolver to mark the milestone. While currently in the midst of collecting Smiths that shipped in 1947 (Nov. preferred), I lucked into a VERY nice K-22 Masterpiece that had an 11/47 ship date*.
Now it did lack the original numbered-to-the-gun stocks but that was not a problem... as I had a great set of DWFAN-resurrected Diamond Targets just waiting for a good home! Perfect again.

I have no idea for an "80" Smith as of now.

*the SWHF Letter is still on its way on this one... hopefully the day# is lucky 13!

Another added birthday/S&W related item; unusual cast brass J-frame stocks. I bought these when I turned 50 in '97 for another .38 I had. They look to compliment the style of Wayne's engraving on the 60.

They are marked inside the casting: "1997 SADDLEWORTH"

Cool guns! If you will be going back another 32 years for your 80th birthday purchase, a nice Triple Lock sounds in order. Enjoy!

H R, I can't find any mention/info on those grips. IRCC I bought them @ SHOT Show from the Mfg. and they also had solid silver versions too.

Thanks Alan, I like the Triple Lock idea.

80 deserves no less than a Registered Magnum.
