Pachmayr Gripper in my opinion. Picture of a Hand ejector and a Model 631. Same frame as a 63, just did not have a good picture of the Model 63 with a Pachmayr gripper/

Not sure what is meant by full size. I picked up some Uncle Mike's boot grips on eBay for my model 60 just to see if I'd like them. I like the originals, but these fit great. They don't extend down, but fit my hand more naturally.

I really like Pachmayr's from "back when" ...

I 'just' bought a Performance Center Pro Series Model 60.
I did fire it with the wood grips, but they aren't as comfortable firing magnums as the Hogue grips are.

I wouldn't call a hundred rounds through a new revolver 'having experience' with these grips, but I can say that I like them.
Installation only took a minute or two at the range.

I also have a Model 63 with the black rubber S&W grips and the Hogues that I put on my Model 60 do feel better.
I don't feel the need to do the same to my Model 63, but now I'll have to shoot them side by side and think about it!

Don't let one experience with wood grips sour you on them .
Factory finishes are usually some fast drying spray on finish , commonly a water based polyurethane .... I don't care for this finish either .

Sand off that factory finish and refinish with Tung Oil or a Linseed Oil finish like Trueoil . Oil finishes have a natural tackiness to them that the hand can adhere to better .

The walnut Altamonts I ordered for a P-38 and several sets of Ahrends all were finished in tung oil by myself , it's easy ...very satisfactory even on smooth grips .

i use pachmayr presentation small size grips on my J and new I frames .....they fit well and fill my hand just right.....

My PC 442-1 came with Altamont Falconias. They are hand filling, your pinky wraps naturally under the bottom front, and you can pocket carry. I ain't replacing them.

Yeah, just this morning I put a set of Pachmayr's like the ones above. Replaced the hellish Smith rubber grips on my 442 for the sake of my delicate hands and dislike of intense recoil. Turned it into a shooter rather than a carrier. They're pretty large...OWB only. Or mostly, I guess.

I've tried various grips for S&W J's. Even tried the old S&W "banana" grip which look great but don't function that well. Best by far, even for harder kicking J's, is the UM boot grip.

My son has a 63 with Herrett Shooting stars. These can often be found on E-bay for reasonable prices. Also before you dump the small wood grips, consider putting a BK adapter on. This will find the sweet spot for you. The Bk's are great and cheap.
Another benefit for the BK is that while this will be a great fit for most hands, it will still be small enough for deep concealment.

Hogue has basically three kinds of material: Soft rubber, harder rubber and hard nylon.

I have some Hogue bantam grips on my M66 and I was hesitant to buy them because all of the Hogue rubber I've had was "sticky" but they've fixed that (the sticky ones were the X-frame guns I've had) it still is a bit tacky but not enough to annoy me.

Haven't had any of the nylon grips but I do prefer a hard grip over soft.
