617 range time

Took my 617 to range with my 27 and guess its ok. My eyes and hand don't do it justice and think its more accurate than my 18. This was at 15 yards, bottom target SA top DA. Seems I shoot any better DA.

Nice shooting. I shot both my 617 and 686+ today. They make this old man look good. I agree with you about double action usually more accurate than single action.

I wouldn't mind having a 10 shot 617. I have a 617-1 that I haven't used in many years but I would prefer the extra rounds in the cylinder for Steel Challenge. I'm reluctant. Both my 627 and 43C have been outstanding and I figure it's time for my luck to run out if I get another revolver.

Just me being curious. What barrel length is your 617-1? I have one myself with a 4 inch barrel.

My -1 has a 4" barrel. I'm not a fan of any DA revolver with a barrel longer than that.

I currently have a bakers dozen Smith revolvers and am looking for the next one making it an even 14.

I haven’t had any problems yet and hopefully my luck won’t run out either.

Since the SCSA membership voted for Rimfire Revolver divisions I’m looking forward to them next year.

I have a 617 4” 10 shot with a red dot but wanted another for irons. I recently purchased a 617 6” 10 shot, I prefer the longer sight radius for irons. I really like them both.

I recently purchased a new 617-6 and added a RDS to it mainly because I don’t have one on any of my handguns and wanted to try one out. Unfortunately I belong to a couple outdoor ranges and the weather turned suddenly and I haven’t had a chance to try it yet.

You can put a 10 shot cylinder and hand in a 6 shot gun, or vise versa. No need to buy a complete other gun.

Really? I didn't know that was possible. I thought the K was just like the N in that the extra capacity cylinders didn't fit in the six shot frames. I will certainly look into this. But I don't think I've ever seen a 10 shot cylinder and ratchet assembly for sale.

Yes, the K and L frame can have the larger round count in the same frame, 6 to 10 for K and 6 to 7 for L. You can't mix 6 and 8 N frames, though. Midway USA and Gun Parts Corp. have had the hands and cylinders in the past, I don't know if they still do.
