I saw a 624 no dash, stainless 3" 44 Special with combat grips. It had a checkered top strap similar to a Model 27 and the backstrap is checkered also. Was this done on any of the Lew Horton's 624 Combat Specials or someones customization? Sorry for the dumb question, my knowledge is pinned and recessed revolvers but I have the .44 Special bug so bad I want them all it seems :)

Thanks,
Earl

Definitely NOT factory original. I have never seen or heard of this modification prior to your post. I have seen many, many original 624 Combat revolvers and they have all been the same.

Thanks. Same with the other ones I had seen. I wasn't sure if Horton might have done something else with some of them (I know about the cased 1st of 100 in blue and stainless). Thanks again, Earl
