Hello, I am curious as to what if/any of the lower spectrum heavy factory loads that you guys put through your 625,s

I mainly handload here, but was looking at maybe picking up some of the Corbon 335 gr. Hunter thinking it would probably run around 1000 fps out of the 5 inch tube,
But not knowing pressure, would this be too much for the 625 ??

I know the grizzly, buffalo and doubletaps running at 1300 are too much for the Smith, But just wanted to get some opinions on what you guys are running and feel is max
Thanks John

Its probably not a good idea, why take a chance on ruining a great gun. If you need that kind of power go to a .41 or .44. A 250 gn bullet at 900 or so fps should do about anything you'd need to do with a handgun.

I have never shot the " bruisers " through my Mountain Gun although it's made on the .44 magnum frame and probable can tolerate the pressure. Why beat it up. If I wanna fire the Monster Slayers,.. 300 grainers at 1300fps, use a Ruger.

Sounds like you have a 625 in .45 Colt, and I agree it isn't suited for those monster loads. I'd stick with bullets 255 gr. or less.
