At local outdoor range today and after 100 rounds it got really boring shooting at 25 yards so I took my target to 50 yards. This being a fairly new gun to me it took some time to sight in until one range officer loaned me his spotter. Once it was dialed in I had some fun. The range officer even asked for my last target when I was done.
This 625 JM is stock except for a 11 degree forcing cone to correct a factory butcher job and only 230 grain medium-heavy reloads were fired. I used to shoot my Python at this distance but what a surprise for 45 ACP.

A revolver will shoot a lot farther than some people think.

I can ring a 12"x 16" steel plate about 10 out of 12 times at 100 yards with my 3rd model HE 44. It's not hard when you practice, and it's so far away the sound of the shot dies in time to hear the ringing of the plate.

100 yards for a good revolver and load is no problem. Only thing with 45 ACP, you are dealing with severe bullet drop after about 75 yards. Nothing some kentucky windage and holdover can't fix though.

Shooting clay pigeons at 50 and 100 yards is a good way to burn up a lot of ammo...........but it's addictive as all git-out! It's also good training for those with trigger-control issues.

I can't even see 50yds, much less hit anything at that range. S&W revolvers are much more accurate than my eyes (or my memory, for that matter).

i can wack a 12x12 plate at 100y with my 1911's and 45ACP wheel guns...just have to aim at the top of the plate.....just pickup a 625JM this mornin' so i don't know if it will or not....i'm pretty sure i can though when my finger heals all the way but i'll try it lefty!!!....LOL...

got it caught under a 1k # air handle and i jerked it out and it took the pad off.....didn't break though which was a +....

Good grief, is that all? I thought you were going to say you were shooting your Glock when it went kaboom.

JK, get well soon.

Accuracy with 625 at 50 YARDS

Greetings,

Attached is a twelve shot group fired at 50 yards from a Random Rest.

The 625 revolvers do shoot quite well.

Cheers,

Dave
