The new grips and front sight I ordered came in for my 625 JM. Went with the Hiviz .250 green front sight and Hogue Exotic Rosewood finger grooved grips. Love it!

Took the 625 JM and my 686 PC out to the range this morning. This was my first time shooting the 686 PC with the Hogue Bantam grips and was very impressed. It handled the Hornady 125 gr critical defense rounds perfectly.

The grips and sights on the 625 JM were also flawless. Love the palm swell on the new grips and the green front sight was very easy to pick up even in the dim indoor range.

Both of these beast clean up real nice!

The grips look great on the JM. I also have the green HiViz sight. But I actually prefer the factory Gold Dot. The quick change front sight feature is awesome. Wish more of my S&W wheelguns had that feature.

Now to do something about those rubber grips on the 686 PC. I have over a dozen S&W revolvers and I have changed out the grips on everyone but my 686PC 2.5", I really like those grips. In fact I like them so much I got a set for my 627PC 2.5" 8 shot.

Enjoy!

HarrishMasher,
I liked the factory gold dot when outside and the sun was behind me. But indoors at my local range it did not pick up the light at all. The Hiviz does a better job but is still dim inside. I love how easy it is to swap it out. Wish my 686 PC had that same set up.

As for the 686 PC grips I absolutely love the way the factory wood grips look and I almost love the way they feel. They are just to thin. Need something that has more palm swell to fill my hands. I actually plan on putting the wood grips back on because I think they are too nice looking to sit in my closet. The Hogue feel nice but not enough to put up with the looks.

The S&W factory bead is brass and not gold.
SDM Fabricating makes the real , solid gold bead that really shines.

S&W on the right / SDM on the left:

Stocks look nice Bananaman, I had my eye on those as well but wanted deeper finger grooves.

SDM makes the fiber optic sights also but their solid gold bread really shines and never gets dull or tarnished.

Can this model be ordered without the JM engraving or roll stamping on the side plate? If anyone's initials are going on it, they'll be mine, not someone else's.

I doubt it but the performance center model does not have any initials on the side from the factory.

I don't mind JM's engraving on my 625-8. It performs so well, they could paint stripes on it and I would hardly care (:>)). It's my most shot revolver. I was so impressed with the 625-8 with 4" barrel that at the next OGCA gun show I went to, I bought a 5" Model of 1989 (625-6).

I put a set of Pachmayrs on mine and LOVE them along with the Red Dot Sight:

Feel free to GROAN if you like, but my combination regularly gives me results like this (shot standing at 25 yards):

And this (again, standing at 25 yards) - a Master Class revolver shooter will not be particularly impressed but it's not bad for a blind, fat, "Certified Old Fart":

The accuracy of these revolvers with home cast bullets (Mihec mold for the H&G #68 ahead of 4.0 grs. of Bullseye or equivalent) just flat works for the shooter.

FWIW

My Pre-lock 1989 model that I shortened and a current performance center gun. The PC gun the factory uses a broach cut barrel that is different from the regular 625. Supposedly better for cast slugs. Both shoot lights out.
