627 PC grips

I have a 627 4" without factory grips, it came used with VZ tactical diamond N frame round grips. I don't have factory grips to compare to but I suspect the VZs are slightly fatter than the factory grips because ejecting the brass is somewhat obstructed but the VZ palm swell.

I was looking at Altamont grips and they look quite nice. But I was hoping if anyone has feedback on whether or not the VZs are indeed a little too fat or if it's simply that the wheel is so big so it can hold 8 rounds that any grips would be slightly in the way?

If it's just a tight fit with any grip I'll get the altamont's but hope someone can speak up if that's a problem.

I had a 627 PC and switched to VZs, they were definitely not thicker than the factory grips. The same goes for my L frames that I've switched to VZs. The 8 shot N frames don't have much room between the frame and that closest chamber I'm afraid, with any grips.

It sounds like you don't have it anymore, otherwise I'd ask you to measure it. I could swear it was tight with the stock wood grips but a little tighter with the VZs. They have a palm swell so the width varies based on where you measure it. The stock grips seem to be wider front to back but thinner side to side. I don't see anywhere to order replacement factory grips. Bummer....
