Did smith ever make such an item? I've been running ads in different forums looking to buy a Model 627 PC and someone contacted me saying they had one for sale with a 6.5" barrel. They don't offer different barrel lengths on their web site (5" only). At least it's not stated. I guess if you had the bucks you can order any length but I don't know.

Yes they do and it is very rare. I seen on on this forum and I think smithnut has it.

Yep, a fellow had 2 627PCs for sale about 3 months ago, one 5.5 inch in 38 Super and a 6.5 inch 357. I bought the Super and let the other go because I already had a 5 inch 627PC in 357.
Since it's become one of those "wonder how I could have been so stupid" deals.

Early run from '98, Lew Hortons' 6.5" slabside contour barrel(not full lug), 38/357mag, 200 made, JMS prefix. Fantastic gun.
Yes they're .357s, it's just that I only shoot 38 spls in mine and get to thinking of them as such. Sorry for the confusion. (I fixed it)

Damn SmithNut, I got wood looking at all that gun porn ;-) One more question, did S&W start shipping the PC's in plastic boxes? The few I've seen came in a metal presentation case. The seller sent me some pics and it's in a plastic case and has a modified lug similar to the one second from the bottom on SmithNut's pic

The metal cases are later guns, the early guns used plastic cases (and there were at least three versions of plastic cases before the metal ones arrived...)

I have the 627 PC with a 6.5" barrel it was a limited run of 200. I posted pics when I joined forums.
