Couldn't find it on GB or Auction Arms.

There are actually two 627 UDR's on Gunbroker right now, the expensive one is still expensive and the less expensive one is ported-which I have to believe is aftermarket. So if you want a two grand shooter there you are.

These PC Defensive Revolvers use a ball-detent locking system on the yolk. The barrel is too short to have front locking-lug.

I don't know if the longer barreled 627's have this (as they don't Need it)?

I have a 5" PC 627 around here somewhere & will have to examine it next time I locate it.

If they have the ball-detent then I guess you could do the barrel swap without having to add the ball lock. Without it the 2.5" barrel would fall open.

Reminder about barrel switching between 627s. There are six shot and eight shot guns out there, and the parts are not interchangeable because to add two more charge holes required those holes to be drilled closer to the perimeter, so a six shot barrel will not line up with an eight shot cylinder and visa-versa.

My extra 2-1/2 inch barrel is from an 8 shot revolver . . . I think! How can I double check??? Would that short barrel have to say "8 times"???

The six shot barrel will have the ejector shroud close to the forcing cone, just like all your other 6-shot N frames, but the 8-shot barrel will have the ejector shroud lowered from the forcing cone to accommodate the 8-shot cylinder. Sorry I do not have any measurements available, but the difference is not slight, it is clearly visible. Also, as previously mentioned, the new barrels use a ball-detent lock-up, so there is no hole and pin through the ejector shroud because it does not lock up there anymore. Instead there will be a vertical grove in the bottom of the rear face of the ejector shroud where the ball in the yolk will lock on closing the cylinder.

One side of this barrel says 357 mag V-8 - sorry for may panic. Thanks for your help! It is not a slab sided barrel, has a cap and a compensator as separate parts.

Nanook,

It sounds like you have a V-Comp barrel. Is it a 3"er? Post a pic if you can please.
