Thinking of purchasing a 627PC for shooting club Centerfire action shooting, currently use a 625PC, 45acp, and thinking of adding a 8 shotrevolver, both being N Frames...any thoughts on reliability, accuracy, etc,

I considered getting one for a long time before finally deciding on a 27-2 I came across. As far as I have heard the biggest downside some people describe is the 8-shot cylinder doesn't endure extremely hot handloads in the long term. However that could just be hearsay. I've only gotten to take one out to the range once and it handled very well, the biggest problem I had was forgetting I had two bullets left.

I started shooting Steel Challenge with a JM 625 Pro. Six shoots didn't always get the job done. Bought a 627 PC and used that for about a year. For the last six months I've been shooting a M&P 327 R8. I have mounted a C-more sight for OSR category. I'm using middle charge 38 specials. This fairly light charge will not wear the gun at all.

I shoot club action matches (run and gun, plates and pins) and I use a 4" 627 Pro. I have a 5" 627 PC V-comp too. The only advantage the PC gun has over the pro is the comp for shooting really hot loads at pins. Otherwise the Pro is a better deal and better balanced gun IMHO.

As far as comparing a 627 to a 625 8 shots is better than 6 between reloads unless you are really good and never need the extra shots.

BTW if you get an 8 shot revolver make sure you properly roll crimp the cases for fast reloads with moon clips or better yet use 38 short Colt brass (properly crimped) for effortless reloads.

I got to add that I went with the 627 Pro too. For the money difference it was my choice. I carry my Pro a lot and I already had a Simply Rugged holster for a 4 inch N frame.

Why did you stop using the 627 PC? Any other problems with the Gun?

for accuracy, reliable, handling etc. etc. it would be a matter of specific revolvers. I have both models and have not had a problem with either.

One advantage the 625 has over the 627 is in reloading speed/ease. 45's just go into the cylinders easier and faster than 8 .357's. A friend shorter 38spl and even 38lc cases and that helped a bit, but didn't make that much of a difference. You got to get good, rigid moonclips. My 627 likes Federal cases the best.
