It has no lanyard or Trail Boss engraving. No ports. Pachmyr grips someone put on it. It's in excellent shape and locks up tighter than a nun on Easter. Place wants $850 plus tax and won't let me take pictures. Any idea? I'm back and work away from my S&W book.

Bicbw?????

Ah I got it, but I could be wrong. Lew Horton was my thought too.

They go for $1000ish on gb with the correct grips, which are worth about $250 to $300. If you really want the gun, offer $850 out the door and see what they say. I doubt they show up in lgs's that often. Your next best bet is going to be gb with a closing price likely north of $1000 plus shipping plus ffl fee. Call that $1100 on the low low side. Comparatively, $850 seems good. They are sweet guns, I assure you that.

Edit:
I'm assuming the gun is in excellent condition. I'd use $850 out the door as a ceiling and deduct for condition flaws.

Finally got to my book

"629-1 (1986-1987): 8,000 manufactured with round butt and 3" barrel, distributed by Lew Horton and S&W."

Yes....much better than a current 3" Talo. I'm happier than a pig in mud.

Show some pictures!!!

I have one from a S&W run in 1989. I love it.

I really like the -1 LHs though, because they came with GA combats. Unfortunately yours doesn't still have them, and they are out of sight on price now. I opted for some Ahrend Moradillo combat grips for mine to replace the factory pachs. An option to keep in mind, but it handles so much better with the pachs.

I will be posting up some pictures soon. I've seen the LH grips and honestly they do nothing at all for me personally. Collectors value, sure. But this doesn't have the box or the grips and I want to shoot it anyways. So I'm perfectly happy with this deal. I do plan to get some nice Ahrends for it. Just wish I could find some round butt N frame Cocobolos. :( If anyone has any I wouldn't mind throwing some good green your way.

Sounds like a good score. And you can shoot 44 Special, too. Pics please.

You will like that gun more when you shoot it. I found one in a pawn shop about three years ago. It is one of the best shooting revolvers I have ever shot. I shoot hand loads at about 1000fps and 240gn factory magnums to the same POI at 25yds. It is my woods walking gun.

I'm glad you bought it. This is the gun that got me into reloading. A light charge of fast powder behind a 200gr plated bullet is a very enjoyable all day load in that gun.
