Was finally able to shoot my 629. Was shooting at 20 yards rested once dialed in was able to have 5 out of 6 rounds touching..always one gets away. Then shot my 29-2 . Which is not nearly as accurate was very surprising to see the new out shoot the old wondering if anyone else has seen this. Thanks again.

The only real difference I noticed between my 29 6" and 629 5" is that I like the balance with the 5" full lug barrel better. I get about the same results in accuracy. Question, did you mean 629-3 instead of -8? The reason I asked is because I just got a new 629-6 and I don't think they've jumped two changes that fast.

I think there's a PC 629-8. IIRC, fluted barrel, orange front sight, provisions for 1913 type rails to be attached.

As for the increased accuracy of the newer .44s, no surprise! Very noticable at longer distances, esp. past 100 yards versus the early '90's and before versions. I can get nearly the same accuracy with some older .44s out to 100, but not past it, and it took ages to find the right combos.

Pretty bluing and forged parts don't make 'em shoot better....
