I am the proud owner of a 629 No Dash with the 8-3/8" barrel

Looking thru the SCSW it lists two possible triggers:
.500 Serrated or a .400 Serrated

Well.....mine has a .400 SMOOTH trigger.

So, I assume that the Standard Catalog just didn't list the smooth trigger or my trigger was changed.

Any info from those much more knowledgeable would be appreciated

Here's a pic...cause I know I'll be heckled if I don't!!!

Thanks

If the chrome finish on the trigger appears original, I would guess it was a replacement part. Any damage to the sideplate screws or other evidence it has been worked on?

.400 Smooth Triggers Were The Norm

I bought a 6" no dash 629 when they first came out. Mine had the .500 serrated target trigger. I got a factory letter with it, and it stated that the .500 were not suppose to be put in the Model 629's, and that it was an error that some (very few) left the factory with them installed on the revolver. The letter further stated that the .400 smooth trigger was the standard trigger to be put on these guns, due to the fact the factory wanted the trigger guard and trigger to be the same width, as there was concern that the .500 serrated trigger hung over the edges of the .400 trigger guard, and could get caught on a holster etc., and possibly cock the hammer and cause an accidental discharge. (Interesting that after all years of .500 triggers being installed on thousands of revolvers, the factory went with the new .400 triggers).
Your gun came with the .400 smooth trigger. It would definitely be a somewhat scarce collector gun if the .500 serrated trigger was sent out originally installed on your gun.
No dash 8 3/8" Model 629's are themselves a scarce desirable revolver and came out at the very end of of the first year production.
