A few months back I put my new Smith and Wesson 629 Stealth Hunter .44 mag. to work to try and help my Dad with a pig problem on his farm in Mississippi. Within 3 days of owning it, I bloodied it with this little porker. Winchester white box 240 gr. JSP at 17 yards. Bang --> Flop. Didn't take a step.

Nice job! The younger ones do make better eating. I'm sure that one will make more than one good meal. I hope that the 629 will collect many more piggys for you.

Thanks. The little ones get turned into BBQ meat and big ones get turned into sausage. I hope to collect piggys, deer and someday a moose (on my wishlist) with the Stealth Hunter.

Went and blew his house down, now dintcha. Moose.... a taller order, but I admire the ambition.

Hoping to hunt Maine for Bullwinkle someday. No rush, but it is on my bucket list. For some strange reason I only want to pistol hunt one.

yep. Maine and NH are my stomping grounds. I totally hear you on wanting to pistol hunt them. I'll take that further - I think one should ONLY be able to. Sure, sell anyone a tag that wants one (no lottery) but guess what, handgun only. Better yet, blade or spear only with a maximum edge length. For that matter, I think you should be able to buy a tag for sperm whale, but you gotta take it via hand-thrown harpoon from sixteen foot wooden boat with 5hp max engine. Enjoy!

I love them 629s ,I love hunting with my 629 it is an older 629-1 built in the 80s ,if you reload try building some light loads and take a few squirrels they make excellent practice and if ya head shoot them they make a pretty good stew .Keep us updated as to what game you are taking .Im right across the line in Tuscaloosa Al if ya need to get rid of some barbecue .

I am actually stuck in Maryland (work in DC) but I will make the trip south to hunt with my Dad every chance I get. As soon as I retire my wife and I are heading back to the south.

For little critters I have two .22 revolvers and for the midrange I have three .357's. I keep my two 629 .44's for the larger critters, but I wanted to bloody the Stealth Hunter so I popped the little porker. ;)

How do you like your Stealth Hunter? I would think it would be on the tame side with that weight. I think both iterations, OD green or black ones, are good looking.
