I have a new 629. Every once and a while the trigger will lock up about halfway out on reset. If you just barely touch the hammer you will hear click and the trigger will reset the rest of the way. It seems to have gotten more in frequent with some firing. Ideas on what it might be?

If it's intermittently sticking during the trigger return it sounds like the top of the hammer block flag is sticking as the trigger returns forward.

You can verify that the hammer block is the culprit by removing it, replacing the sideplate and dry firing a few times to see if the problem "goes away".

Solution:

Sometimes, simply substituting a new hammer block will cure the problem.

Also, if this is a "new to you" revolver, I would check to see if the rebound slide spring is a full length factory spring. (17 coils, flat ground at each end)
